Designer Showcase at FCADC

The designer showcase is a space in Fairfield County Antique and Design Center transformed by distinguished interior designers into an exhibition of antiques, fine furnishings, and exquisite décor. These select designers utilize all that Fairfield County Antique and Design Center and its dealers have to offer, allowing their vignette to come to life. Each designer's showcase allows us to appreciate their unique vision and taste, offering varied perspectives and a fresh take on the art of staging interior spaces.

Current Designer: Nora Murphy

We are thrilled that Nora Murphy is our current Designer-in-Residence. In addition to designing our showcase Nora hosted a special book launch of her "Nora Murphy Country House Style - Making Your Home a Country House" book with us.
Nora Murphy has turned her passion for country house style and its embodiment-her own home in Newtown, Connecticut-into a multimedia juggernaut. Her blog, website, e-magazine, strong presence on social media, and increasing visibility in print media and on TV have earned her a devoted following all over the country and around the world. And now she has distilled the essence of her knowledge about the fundamentals of country house style and how to achieve it into an irresistible new book, Nora Murphy's Country House Style: Making Your Home a Country House.

In the book's Introduction, Nora lays out the universal elements of country house style: creating a place where everyone is always welcome; where tradition is honored by changing it up; where comfort is always in style; where there's always room for our favorite things; where there's always a reason to celebrate; and where home extends well beyond our walls.

The body of the book shows how the elements of this comfortable, comforting, easy aesthetic and approach to life can be applied in different ways and in different locations to striking, individual effect. Nora features six homes, beginning with her own, each of which expresses a unique take on the style, whether it's a house in the country, in the mountains, by the sea, in a village, in the city, or in the woods. The looks range from elegant country to English cottage country to vintage farmhouse country to French country, all offering multiple decorating ideas and solutions for every room. Part primer, part wish book, Nora Murphy's Country House Style, illustrated entirely with specially commissioned photography, is all inspiration.

Previous Showcase: Kate Ives Design

A graduate of New York School of Interior Design, Kate has worked for top interior design firms across the country before establishing Kate Ives Design in 2016. Prior to starting to her firm, Kate developed her editorial eye in the office of the editor in chief (Margaret Russell) at Architectural Digest and in the fashion closets of Vogue.

Rather than identifying with a particular design style, Kate creates singular spaces with restrained elegance and timeless aesthetics, concentrating on architectural elements and specific needs of clients.

With offices in both New Canaan, CT, and Manhattan, Kate Ives Design enjoys creating homes that reflect her clients' lives as much as she relishes executing commercial projects and styling for editorial. Current projects include residences in both CT and NYC, as well as an office for a young start up in Brooklyn and a lakeside home in Seattle.

Previous Showcase - Collin Robison of Hound House

Collin Robison designs to tell a story through texture, color, and form. His extensive background in both the design and beauty industries are reflected in all that he does. “I love juxtaposition--opposites bring one another out: industrial-artisan, antique-modern, and, most importantly, black-white.” Never one to be caged in by a specific style, Collin pulls from all that has made an impression on him, most of all nature.
Collin and his partner, Trent DeBerry, recently launched a new brand inspired by their 1790 Connecticut farmhouse and their love for their greyhounds. Hound House is a venue where their curious collections and lush ornamental gardens can be used for intimate social events, photo shoots, and film location. The essence of Hound House is captured in their new Olfactory Collection. Hound House Signature and Holiday are the first two scents to debut.
Collin’s work has been featured in Connecticut Cottages and Gardens, Nora Murphy Country House, Decor Arts Now, and was recently shot for Country Home magazine.
