Designer Showcase at FCADC

The designer showcase is a space in Fairfield County Antique and Design Center transformed by distinguished interior designers into an exhibition of antiques, fine furnishings, and exquisite décor. These select designers utilize all that Fairfield County Antique and Design Center and its dealers have to offer, allowing their vignette to come to life. The showcase of each designer's take on a room allows us to appreciate their unique vision and taste, offering varied perspectives and a fresh take on the art of staging interior spaces.

Current Designers: Christina Roughan of Roughan Interiors & Carey Karlan of Last Detail Interior Design

Roughan began her design career with iconic brands Polo Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger, designing and overseeing the implementation of retail stores and showrooms worldwide.

In 1996, she started Sullivan Design, an interior design firm based in NYC. Her talent for combining modern and traditional interiors in unexpected ways garnered the attention of prominent clients such as Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan and Takashimaya. In 1998 Sullivan Design decided to expand and take on a business partner to co-found Tocar, Inc, an interior design firm focusing on residential and commercial interiors.

In 2009, Roughan Interiors was founded and became a global international design firm with offices in Weston, CT and NYC.

With a reputation for listening carefully to the needs of clients, attention to detail, and discretion, Roughan has become a favorite of international celebrities as well as design editors at Interior Design magazine, House Beautiful, Elle Décor, CT Cottages & Gardens and AtHome Magazine to name a few. Christina lives with her husband and two daughters in a 200-year-old house in Weston, CT, which is, no surprise, in a constant state of renovation.

Previous Showcase: Michael Whaley of Michael Whaley Interiors, Inc.

A graduate of Columbia University, Michael Whaley first studied 18th Century design while living in France, where he developed a strong foundation in the luxurious design that is his signature.  Before founding his own firm in 1987, Michael worked at Parish-Hadley Associates, a defining experience that not only informed his vision and capacity for large, complex projects, but also exposed him to some of the finest homes and apartments in the United States.

Since then, Michael has been a prolific designer. His fluency with custom furnishings and antiques has made him the choice of homeowners from Chicago to the Caribbean, with many loyal and repeat clients from Manhattan and Fairfield County using his talents for second homes in the Hamptons, Florida, and out West. His projects reflect the kind of original design produced by the icons who inspire him: Renzo Mongiardino and Madeleine Castaing.

Previous Showcase - Collin Robison of Hound House

Collin Robison designs to tell a story through texture, color, and form. His extensive background in both the design and beauty industries are reflected in all that he does. “I love juxtaposition--opposites bring one another out: industrial-artisan, antique-modern, and, most importantly, black-white.” Never one to be caged in by a specific style, Collin pulls from all that has made an impression on him, most of all nature.
Collin and his partner, Trent DeBerry, recently launched a new brand inspired by their 1790 Connecticut farmhouse and their love for their greyhounds. Hound House is a venue where their curious collections and lush ornamental gardens can be used for intimate social events, photo shoots, and film location. The essence of Hound House is captured in their new Olfactory Collection. Hound House Signature and Holiday are the first two scents to debut.
Collin’s work has been featured in Connecticut Cottages and Gardens, Nora Murphy Country House, Decor Arts Now, and was recently shot for Country Home magazine.
